Could have been better Positive: The room was nice and the bathroom was very big. TV was easy to use. I was able to park in one of the side roads with just a very short walk to the property. Negative: I was visiting Southampton for personal reasons so chose the Madison as it had cooking facilities and self check-in. I also liked the fact that I would not need to interact with staff as you would in a hotel and could come and go at my own discretion. I found on the second day that the grill pans and oven had not been cleaned by a previous visitor and had been left with a lot of dried on food and were frankly disgusting. This may sound like a small issue but, given that they charge £45 for cleaning and the cooking facilities had been my main reason for choosing them, I was unhappy about this. I raised it as an issue and they sent somebody very quickly to clean it up which was good. However, they would not give me a partial refund of the cleaning charge and considered that they had done enough by sending someone to clean up. The person I was emailing with also described it as 'a slight inconvenience' which I found quite patronising. They offered me a 15% discount on a future stay with them which I did not feel was acceptable as this stay had not come up to expectation so the refund should be on this stay. Eventually, another lady got in touch and acknowledged that this had not been an acceptable situation and that they would learn from it which I appreciated. However, she still only offered a 50% discount on cleaning charges for a future booking. I thanked her but told her I still did not feel this was acceptable as any refund should be on this current stay. I couldn't be bothered to argue anymore so left it at that.

Very happy with the apartment, stayed while mt husband was in Southampton hospital, perfect location. Positive: Very comfortable, warm and clean. Quiet. Negative: Nothing.
