One of the best holidays ever, from a strong list. Positive: The location was extraordinary. How could one not love being in such a comfortable, well-equipped cottage under a working lighthouse in such a spectacular landscape? It was the best equipped accommodation we have ever stayed in. Everything was clean, comfortable, warm and accessible. There are several other heritage attractions on site, such as the radar room, the foghorn, and the observatory overlooking the sound, with the friendliest staff one could imagine. Negative: Not much that could be helped. The cottage comes with an Aga, which was good to use on day 1, but it developed a fault which meant it had to be switched off for the duration. This wasn't a huge problem as the kitchen also has a hob, but it meant we had no oven. In our case this was not a great issue, but a slight shame all the same. And while we did not find it particularly disagreeable, because the site is a major tourist draw, one or two visitors took it upon themselves to peer into our windows! But this was rare, understandable, and even amusing.
